CHAIRMAN’S
MESSAGE - KEEPING MUSIC LIVE
Listening to live music of all types brings people together to experience different musical styles, traditions
and cultures. And so the Stafford Music Festival was created in 2002 by a group of dedicated people who believed that Stafford should showcase its local
musical talent many of whom have become national and international performers and also bring national and international
artists to Stafford. In order to reach as wide an audience as possible, some concerts are free. The Stafford Music Festival is
flourishing and experimenting all the time. The 11th Stafford Music Festival will take place from
5 - 19 May 2012 and will bring to Stafford for two weeks a variety of music to suit all tastes
from classical to popular music, jazz, folk and blues, choral and big bands. We shall also be "Keeping Music Live in Pubs" organised by Eric Furze of Guitar & Son ensuring that young people have an outlet for their musical talent and experimentation.
The festival is organised by members of the Stafford Music Festival voluntary committee who give
many hours of their time to ensure that musical talent will flourish and Stafford will continue
to hear live music. If you wish to give something back to the community and you believe that music
is important in people's lives, please make contact with us. We need new people who will generate
new ideas and help us to make each festival a huge success.
We are most grateful to our sponsors and our partners for their generosity and for
their willingness to support an event which gives great pleasure to so many
people. We are in the process of organising the 2012 festival and
when performances have been confirmed they will appear here.
